Microsoft Corporate VP and Manager of Windows Phone division, Joe Belfiore, took the stage today at MWC to announce a few of the new hardware partners for Windows Phone. The names include LG and Lenovo, while the list already includes Samsung, Nokia and Huawei. The list also included XOLO and Karbonn from India. Furthermore, he also announced that Windows Phone and Android would be platform compatible, meaning any manufacturer making an Android device can simply switch the OS in the future without having to restructure the hardware. Support for low-end chips from Qualcomm like Snapdragon 200, 400 is also coming in the new update.

These updates would be coming with Windows Phone 8.1 which will be available for all current phones that run Windows Phone 8. Furthermore, the new Windows Phone 8.1 will also feature onscreen buttons instead of the required capacitive buttons, making design more flexible and again more Android compatible.
