Vivo Vision Discovery Edition MR headset launched with dual 8K Micro-OLED displays, Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 SoC
Vivo has launched its first Mixed Reality Handset, the Vision Discovery Edition in China, marking its entry into the immersive computing space with a design that emphasizes lightweight comfort and portability, as promised. The device weighs 398 grams, measures 83 mm in height and 40 mm in thickness, and sports a sleek mirrored front panel with a concealed “floating micro-gap” structure.
Design and Ergonomics -
To enhance comfort during extended use, the headset incorporates a facial support zone for balanced weight distribution, four interchangeable light-blocking shields with foam padding, and a dual-ring adjustable strap that independently tightens at the top and bottom for improved stability.
Visuals and Optics -
The Vision Explorer Edition features dual 8K Micro-OLED panels with a resolution of 3840 × 3552 per eye, covering the P3 color gamut. Binocular calibration ensures consistent colors with accuracy within ΔE<2, while magnetic prescription lenses support diopters ranging from 100–1000. Users benefit from a 180° panoramic field of view, spatial audio, and the ability to project a virtual 120-inch cinema screen, repositionable via gestures.
Performance and Power -
Under the hood, the headset runs on the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 platform, paired with vivo’s Blue Ocean power management system, which helps extend battery life during demanding MR sessions.
Key Features -
- Operating System: OriginOS Vision with 3D icons and layered window management
- Tracking: Eye tracking with 1.5° accuracy and micro hand gesture recognition across 26 DoF with a 175° vertical range
- Passthrough: Full-color passthrough with 13 ms latency
- Gaming: Support for exclusive MR titles like Table Drum Master and Little V’s Journey, VR content playback, wireless PCVR, and esports experiences with 3D perspectives and gesture navigation

Additional Capabilities -
The headset supports spatial video and panoramic image playback from vivo smartphones and integrates with content partners such as Red Bull Austria, Sony Pictures Television, Huya Live, Spatial XR, and several indie studios. Research collaborations with Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Zhejiang University have led to over 30 published papers in computer vision.
Looking ahead, vivo plans to add direct smartphone app integration, a virtual assistant called “Blue Heart Little V”, and smartphone-enabled 3D/spatial video capture. Exploratory features will also include imaging and health-focused tools, such as a safety system and a portable professional slit lamp.
