Sony launches its Xperia X series in US too, and its still pricey!
After launching the Xperia X series in India, Sony today also detailed the pricing and availability of the Xperia X, Xperia X Performance and Xperia XA for the US. Now instead of carriers, these would be available from major retailers like Amazon.com, Best Buy, and others.
The Xperia X comes in at $550 and will be available starting June 26. The Snapdragon 820 powered Xperia X Performance will retail for $700 and will be available from July 17th along with the MediaTek powered Xperia XA which would retail for $280.
The last smartphone in the list, Xperia XA Ultra with a 16MP OIS camera will come to the US on July 24th. Apart from a slightly refreshed design and update to the latest Marshmallow build there is nothing striking about the new Xperia devices. Given the pricing the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge seem a better choice but we will still reserve judgement since Sony has worked to improve the camera performance with hybrid predictive auto-focus.
