Xiaomi Mi A1 Android 8.0 Oreo update now rolling out
Xiaomi and Google are staying true to their promise, and the Mi A1 is getting its first taste of Android 8.0 Oreo. Google has started rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo beta update to the Xiaomi Mi A1, its new Android One smartphone in India.
You should know that Mi A1 isn’t running on MIUI, but stock Android. For the same reason, it is comparatively easy for the company to push the updates. The Android One smartphone was launched in September with the claim to have Oreo by the end of the year. Now that the beta started reaching selected testers, we can expect the public release to go live within a couple of weeks (provided the beta version has no bugs). Xiaomi has even said that the Mi A1 is going to be one of the few devices under its stable which will get an upgrade to Android P.
The company had begun recruiting beta testers for Mi A1 Oreo beta version on Mi Community India and MIUI Global Forum. Now, the eligible participants are getting the OTA update straight to their phones.
Android Oreo comes with a few handy features like picture in picture mode for video, adaptive icons with notification dots, keyboard navigations, individual notification snoozing, web view attachments, AAudio API for Pro Audio and much more.
The update weighs about 1.1 GB in size and you will also get the December security patch.
The Xiaomi MI A1 recently got a Rs. 1000 price cut in India and is now the most affordable smartphone running
