Nokia 5 Android Oreo update starts rolling out
When HMD Global released Android 8.0 Oreo stable version for Nokia 8, they have promised to bring the update to the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 very soon. Keeping to their word, they have released the beta Oreo build for Nokia 5 now. HMD Global's Chief Product Offer Juho Sarvikas has tweeted out that the Oreo beta build for Nokia 6 should come out soon as well.
The Finnish company released Android 8.0 beta build for Nokia 8 in October, followed by the official rollout last month. If things work out well, we can see stable Oreo version on Nokia 5 by the beginning of 2018.
You will have to go through a registration procedure to get your hands on the beta build. First, visit the Nokia beta labs and sign up with your Google account there. You need to enter a few details about your phone including the IMEI number on the platform to complete the registration. Once you do that, the Oreo build will be sent to your Nokia 5 within 12 hours. It is highly recommended to backup your data before downloading the build.
Android Oreo brings some handy features to the table including picture-in-picture mode, notification dots, new emojis, faster load times, and better battery life.
To recall, the Nokia 5 features a 5.2-inch HD display and packs in a Snapdragon 430 processor under the hood coupled with 3 GB of RAM. The 16 GB onboard storage can be expanded up to 256 GB using an external microSD card. It has a 13 MP rear camera and 8MP selfie camera as well.
You can purchase the Nokia 5, running on stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat from Flipkart for Rs. 13499.
