Apple Launches New MacBook Pro 14″ with M6 chip; India price starts at Rs. 2,39,900
Apple has launched the latest 14-inch MacBook Pro, powered by its new M6 chip in India, succeeding the previous-generation M5 model. The refreshed laptop brings hardware and architectural enhancements designed to improve multi-threaded processing, graphics performance, on-device AI capabilities, and wireless connectivity.
The new MacBook Pro is available in Space Black and Silver finishes. Pre-orders begin on October 28, while retail availability is scheduled to start on November 6.
M6 Architecture and Hardware Performance
The latest MacBook Pro is powered by Apple's M6 system-on-chip (SoC), featuring a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU, with each gaining two additional cores compared to the previous generation. It also includes a Dual 16-core Neural Engine and unified memory bandwidth of up to 170GB/s. The base configuration comes with 16GB of unified memory, with options available for up to 32GB.
According to Apple's technical specifications, the M6 introduces improvements across several key performance areas:
- Central Processing: The 12-core CPU is designed to deliver faster single-core and multi-core performance for software compilation and everyday productivity. Apple rates Xcode compilation performance at up to 1.3x faster than the M5 and up to 2.5x faster than M1-based models.
- Graphics and Rendering: The 12-core GPU features third-generation hardware-accelerated ray tracing and Dynamic Caching. Apple claims graphics performance is up to 30% faster than the M5. In Blender, ray-traced rendering can be up to 1.3x faster than the M5 and up to 11.7x faster than the M1.
- On-Device Artificial Intelligence: Dedicated Neural Accelerators integrated into each GPU core work alongside the Dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple says the Neural Engine delivers up to 1.9x faster performance than its M5 counterpart, benefiting local AI tasks such as image upscaling and running large language models (LLMs) directly on the device. Time-to-first-token latency during LLM prompt evaluation is rated up to 1.3x faster than the M5 and up to 13x faster than the M1.
The laptop retains the familiar design of recent MacBook Pro models while introducing upgraded internal hardware and wireless connectivity standards.

Pricing and Availability
The 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip, 16GB of unified memory, and a 1TB SSD is priced at Rs. 2,39,900. Eligible students and educators can purchase it for Rs. 2,27,900 with education savings.
Pre-orders open on October 28 through Apple's online store and the Apple Store app across 35 countries and regions, including the United States. Deliveries and availability at Apple Store locations and Apple Authorized Resellers will begin on Friday, November 6.
