Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition launched in India at Rs. 28,999 with 6.77-inch FHD+ 120Hz flexible AMOLED display, 50MP Periscope Telephoto Camera
Nothing has launched its latest smartphone, the Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition in India, after the debut of the Nothing Phone (3a) smartphone back in March. The device shares the same core specifications and design as the standard Phone (3a) but incorporates features created by the community. These additions were selected through a process involving over 700 submissions and hundreds of creator interactions over nine months.
The company chose four winners who collaborated directly with Nothing’s Design, Software, Marketing, and Creative teams in London to bring the community-driven version to life.
Design and Features -
Based on the standard 12GB + 256GB Phone (3a) model, the Community Edition introduces unique changes across four key areas:
Hardware Design -
Winner Emre Kayganacl crafted a design inspired by late ’90s and early 2000s tech. It features a “bold, new and nostalgic colour exploration” reminiscent of transparent retro gaming devices, while preserving the modern Phone (3a) aesthetic.
Accessory -
In a new category introduced for 2025, winners Ambrogio Tacconi and Louis Aymonod (Reveland) created a set of Dice accessories. These feature numbers are designed using Nothing’s Ndot 55 font, blending traditional gameplay with the brand’s signature technical style.
Software Customization -
Jad Zock designed the lock screen clock and wallpaper. The clock uses varied font weights for cleaner readability, while the wallpaper connects the exterior hardware theme with the user interface. Four wallpaper options are available, including blue and purple versions.
Marketing Campaign -
The launch campaign, titled “Made Together,” was conceptualized by Sushruta Sarkar. It highlights the collaborative creation process rather than a specific product feature, aligning with Nothing’s aim to foster creativity.
Nothing also introduced a £1,000 cash prize for each category and released all briefs simultaneously, enabling creators and internal teams to iterate more effectively.
Community Investment and Strategy -
The launch aligns with Nothing’s broader initiative to involve its community in governance and funding. In addition to appointing a Community Board Observer, the company has opened a new $5 million community investment round at a $1.3 billion Series C valuation.
This round marks a shift from establishing its hardware base to developing AI-native operating systems. Early investment access begins December 10 via Wefunder (US) and Crowdcube, with public access starting December 11.

The Phone (3a) Community Edition is a highly limited release, with only 1,000 units available worldwide.
In India, it is priced at ₹28,999 for the sole 12GB + 256GB configuration and will be sold exclusively through an offline “drop” event.
