Apple renames OSX to MacOS, announces MacOS Sierra
Apple announced a new version of OSX today at WWDC 2016 but that's not all. After 15 years, OSX will make way for MacOS and the new version is called MacOS Sierra.
The first major new feature of MacOS Sierra is Siri integration. Now, you have a hands-free access to content and information on your Mac with Siri. There's an Auto-unlock feature here as well which allows you to unlock your Mac with a paired Apple Watch.
Apple also announced Universal Clipboard using which you can sync copied content (text, images, videos) between your iPhone/iPad and Mac. For eg., you can copy a URL on your iPhone and then paste it on your Mac and this works the other way round as well. With Sierra, Apple also announced picture-in-picture mode similar to what we have on the iPad. It works with videos and floats over other open apps.
Then you also have Apple Pay coming to the web which means you will now be able to buy online using the service on the web.
MacOS Sierra will be a free upgrade coming this fall. It would be compatible with 2009 of later Macbook and Macbook Air, Macbook Pro, Mac mini launched after 2010.
