Xiaomi set to launch a new device tomorrow in India, could it be the Redmi 3?

Xiaomi India's head Manu Kumar Jain just teased the launch of a new product on Twitter. He wrote "#MiGeneration - An exciting announcement will happen tomorrow :) Always believe something wonderful is about to happen."

Now, quite obviously there is a lot of speculation as to what Xiaomi will be bringing to India, and if I had to venture a guess, the recently launched Redmi 3 would be the best bet. But given Xiaomi's recent track record I wouldn't hold by breath.

Screen Size 5.0 inches (720 x 1280 pixels, 294 ppi)
Camera Back: 13 MP, 1080p@30fps; Front: Yes
Processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 616
Memory 16 GB, 2 GB RAM
OS Android OS, v5.1.1 (Lollipop)
Dimension & Weight 139.3 x 69.6 x 8.5mm, 144 g
Connectivity LTE
Battery 4100 mAh

But there is a glimmer of hope, Xiaomi generally uses the tag line "Always believe something wonderful is about to happen," for its Redmi series of smartphones which does point to the launch of the Redmi 3 in India. It was launched in China a couple of days ago priced at 699 Yuan which roughly translates to Rs. 7100.

The Redmi 3 is an all-metal smartphone running on the Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and a 5-inch HD IPS display. There's also a massive 4100 mAh battery inside. The Xiaomi Redmi 3 is a dual-SIM 4G LTE capable device with an hybrid slot to expand storage. But that's not all, you also have a 13MP rear camera here with PDAF (Phase Detection AutoFocus), 5MP front-camera and it runs Android Lollipop based MIUI7 right out of the box.

We will keep a lookout for the launch, stay tuned for updates right here on PhoneBunch.
