Sony Xperia XA Ultra has a 16MP front-camera with OIS

Sony's latest smartphone is now official. The Xperia XA Ultra was just announced today with a massive 6-inch 1080p edge-to-edge display and a 16MP front-camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).

The Sony Xperia XA Ultra is not the first to pack OIS with the front-camera, but its still one the biggest sensors for a selfie camera. Coming to the rest of the specs, the Xperia XA Ultra runs on the Helio P10 octa-core SoC with 3GB RAM, 16GB internal storage which is expandable and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

At the back of the phone you have a 21.5MP camera with hybrid auto-focus and then there's the 16MP front-camera with OIS, LED flash. the front camera also supports gesture shots.

The 6-inch 1080p display on the Xperia XA Ultra is almost bezel-less and in-fact it is just a millimeter wider than the 5.7-inch display bearing Nexus 6P. One thing may may disappoint you though is the battery-capacity. Most smartphones with such a humongous display come with equally monstrous batteries, but Sony has decided to pack just a 2700 mAh battery inside the Xperia XA Ultra. You do have quick charging support through and according to the company you can get 5.5 hours of usage with just a 10 minute charge. Sony still promises two-day battery life here, which is something we would have to check for ourselves.

Pricing and Availability

The Sony Xperia XA Ultra will come in black, white and lime colors and it will start shipping in July. There is no word on pricing yet, or on a region-wise rollout.
