Here's some stunning 240 fps slo-mo footage captured by the Nexus 6P
Google yesterday revealed the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X both of which use a new 12.3MP Sony sensor with 1.55 micron large pixels for better low-light performance and dynamic range. Even DxOMark chimed in rating it as the second best camera on a smartphone just below the Galaxy S Edge.
Although both the new Nexus smartphones use the same identical Sony IMX377 12.3MP sensor, but only the Nexus 6P is able to capture slo-mo videos at 240 fps while the Nexus 5X is capable of recording only at 120fps. These are limitations of the Snapdragon SoC's powering the smartphones. On pushing Slo-mo videos at 240 fps the resolution dips to 720p.
Googlers have been sharing images and videos taken with the Nexus 6P and the video below is simply stunning. Just see the flapping wings of the Hummingbird, its stunning. Moreover the camera also captures accurate colors, and strangely there is sound here too, although its just Mono. The video has a 19 Mbps bitrate which is a bit on the higher side making video quality better.
