Samsung is ready with 6GB RAM modules for your next high-end smartphone

    Galaxy S6 Edge

There was a time not too long ago when 2GB RAM on a device was considered flagship material, now 4GB is the norm but Samsung wants to push it a bit further, no, a lot further.

    Samsung 6gb Ram Module

Samsung today announced that it has already begun production of 12Gb DRAM modules with its 20nm manufacturing process. This is a significant jump for the smartphone/electronics major. The new chips have 50% greater density than existing 8Gb chips making them more power efficient and way faster,

This means that we are actually a lot closer to Samsung putting 6GB RAM on its devices very soon, something we have already started hearing with the Galaxy S7 prowling about. With a 50% increase in density, the 6GB RAM package will take as much space as a 3GB module, making them more efficient in every way.

Samsung has shared some numbers as well, saying that the new 12Gb DRAM chips are 30-percent faster than their 8Gb counterparts with a per-pin speed of 4266 Mbps (Megabits per second) giving a massive bandwidth of 34 Gbps (Gigabits per second) on a 64-bit system.

If its spec-wars we are interested in then, Samsung has already won.
