Qualcomm launched Dragonwing Q-6690 SoC: First Enterprise Mobile Processor with fully integrated RFID capabilities
Qualcomm has introduced the Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-6690, the world’s first enterprise-grade mobile processor to feature a fully integrated UHF (RAIN) RFID reader, setting a new benchmark for enterprise and industrial computing solutions. Built on cutting-edge 4nm technology, the processor delivers a blend of high performance, advanced connectivity, and on-device AI capabilities, while being optimized for energy efficiency and long-term use.
Key Highlights of Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-6690 -
Integrated RFID -
As the first processor to natively embed a UHF (RAIN) RFID reader, the Q-6690 eliminates the need for external RFID modules, streamlining device design and lowering costs. This enables native RFID tag reading for use cases like retail inventory management, asset tracking, and product authentication.
Advanced Connectivity -
The processor supports 5G+5G DSDA (Dual-SIM Dual-Active) for simultaneous connections to two 5G networks, ensuring redundancy for mission-critical applications. It also features Wi-Fi 7 with 320MHz channels and Multi-Link Operation (MLO) for aggregate throughputs above 30 Gbps, along with Bluetooth 6.0 and integrated UWB for precise, fast, and reliable connections.
Performance & On-Device AI -
At its core, the Dragonwing Q-6690 is powered by a Qualcomm Kryo octa-core CPU that balances performance and efficiency:
- 1x Kryo Gold Prime core at 2.9 GHz for peak tasks.
- 3x Kryo Gold cores at 2.7 GHz for sustained performance.
- 4x Kryo Silver cores at 2.0 GHz for power efficiency.
This architecture is paired with a dedicated AI engine capable of delivering up to 6 TOPS (Trillions of Operations Per Second), enabling real-time inference for machine learning models directly on the device. Tasks such as predictive maintenance, computer vision, biometric recognition, and video analytics can be processed locally, eliminating reliance on cloud computing and reducing latency while enhancing data security.
Software-Defined Flexibility -
The processor supports software-configurable feature packs, allowing upgrades such as enhanced AI power, improved camera capabilities, expanded peripherals, or boosted performance—without new hardware. This ensures devices remain future-ready through 2034, its announced longevity date.
The Q-6690 is tailored for diverse use cases across Retail, Smart Buildings & Enterprises, Smart Cities, Supply Chain & Logistics, Consumer Appliances, and Healthcare.
