POCO M8 Pro launched Globally with 6.83-inch 1.5K 120Hz OLED display, Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 SoC, 6500mAh battery

While India has only received the POCO M8, the company has also launched the more powerful POCO M8 Pro for global markets. The device shares nearly identical specifications with the REDMI Note 15 Pro+, which debuted in China last year.

Performance and Hardware -

The POCO M8 Pro 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 Mobile Platform. According to POCO, the chipset delivers a 66% performance improvement over the previous generation and scores over 1.06 million points on the AnTuTu benchmark.

To keep temperatures in check during heavy workloads, the phone features the POCO IceLoop Cooling System. This is the first time liquid cooling technology has been introduced in the POCO M series.

Display and Audio -

The smartphone sports a 6.83-inch 1.5K CrystalRes Flow AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 3,200 nits and support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+. It also features 3840Hz high-frequency PWM dimming along with DC dimming for better brightness control and reduced eye strain.

On the audio front, the M8 Pro is equipped with dual 1115F speakers, supporting Dolby Atmos and carrying Dual Gold Hi-Res Audio certification.

Camera -

The rear camera setup is led by a 50MP Light Fusion 800 primary sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). The phone brings back 4K video recording at 30fps and includes DXG High-Dynamic Range video technology. For selfies, POCO has upgraded the front camera to a 32MP sensor. The camera system is further enhanced with AI-powered tools for photo editing and motion capture.

Design and Durability -

The POCO M8 Pro 5G measures 8.31mm in thickness and weighs 205.9g, featuring a sleek quad-curved design. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

In terms of durability, the device boasts multiple protection ratings, including IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K, indicating resistance to dust, water immersion, and high-pressure water jets. It also includes Wet Touch 2.0 technology to ensure accurate touch response even when the screen is wet.

Software and Connectivity -

Running on Xiaomi HyperOS, the phone integrates AI features such as Google Gemini and Circle to Search. Connectivity is handled by the Xiaomi Surge T1S Tuner. The device also introduces “Xiaomi Offline Communication,” a feature that reportedly enables short-distance voice calls without relying on a cellular network.

Battery and Charging -

One of the key highlights of the M8 Pro is its 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery paired with 100W HyperCharge fast charging, which can fully charge the device in around 40 minutes. It also supports up to 22.5W reverse charging for powering accessories. In addition, the phone includes battery management software aimed at improving charging efficiency and prolonging battery health.

The POCO M8 Pro is available in Silver, Black, and Green colour options, and it has begun rolling out globally starting today, January 8, including in the UK and several European markets. The smartphone is expected to launch in India sometime in late February. The Customers will get a USD 20 discount during the first sale.
