OPPO Find X9 Ultra to Debut with Hasselblad 50MP 10x Optical Zoom, Prism Periscope Technology

OPPO has shared more details about its upcoming Find X9 Ultra smartphone, placing strong emphasis on a major camera upgrade. The highlight is a new Hasselblad-branded 50MP 10x optical telephoto lens, engineered to overcome the physical constraints that usually limit flagship smartphones to 4x or 5x optical zoom.
To achieve true 10x optical zoom without significantly increasing the phone’s thickness, OPPO has implemented several advanced hardware and structural innovations.
Core Technology: Quintuple Prism Reflection Periscope -
One of the biggest challenges in delivering 10x optical zoom is accommodating the longer focal length required. Conventional L-shaped periscope modules capable of this range typically demand around 41mm of internal space, making them too bulky for slim smartphone designs.

OPPO addresses this with its newly developed Quintuple Prism Reflection Periscope Structure. By reflecting light five times before it reaches the sensor, the system effectively compresses the optical path to 29mm — roughly 30% shorter than traditional designs — allowing for high zoom capability within a slimmer body.
Key Camera Enhancements -
Built around this redesigned periscope module, the Find X9 Ultra integrates multiple technologies to preserve clarity and stability at extreme zoom levels:

- Hasselblad 50MP Custom Sensor - The telephoto camera features a customized JNL Ultra-Sensing Sensor with an f/3.5 aperture. It delivers a 230mm-equivalent focal length at 10x optical zoom and extends to a 460mm-equivalent at 20x “optical-quality” zoom via sensor cropping.
- Refined Optical Path Design - Since multiple prism reflections can introduce stray light and reduce image quality, OPPO developed a three-piece prism system separated by a nanometer-scale diaphragm and an “air capsule.” This configuration reportedly reduces stray light by 99.999%, ensuring a cleaner light path to the sensor.
- Sensor-Shift Stabilization - Traditional prism-based OIS is not compatible with a five-reflection system. Instead, OPPO employs sensor-shift stabilization directly on the telephoto sensor. This approach enhances stability at high magnification levels, where even minor hand movements become more noticeable.
- Triple Active Optical Alignment (AOA) - During manufacturing, the camera module undergoes a triple AOA calibration process, dynamically aligning the lens, sensor, and prism components in real time to achieve maximum sharpness and optical precision.
Targeted Use Cases -

OPPO is positioning the Find X9 Ultra’s advanced telephoto system for scenarios that typically require dedicated camera gear. Promotional comparisons highlight the contrast between ultra-wide shots and detailed 10x zoom captures, indicating the device is well-suited for long-distance subjects such as concerts, sports events, and wildlife photography.
The OPPO Find X9 Ultra is scheduled for introduction in April, with the company already confirming its global launch plans.
