MediaTek Launches Dimensity 8450 5G Chipset with Major AI and Performance Upgrades at India Dimensity Summit
MediaTek has officially launched its latest premium 5G chipset, the Dimensity 8450, during the India Dimensity Summit. The event saw participation from major smartphone brands, including OPPO, vivo, Motorola, Redmi, realme, Infinix, Samsung, and Lava.
In addition to the product unveil, the summit marked the first anniversary of MediaTek Connect, featuring a special gaming tournament and a comprehensive showcase of MediaTek’s entire 5G chipset lineup—from flagship offerings to entry-level solutions.
Dimensity 8450: Performance and AI Power -
Built on an All Big Core architecture, the Dimensity 8450 features eight Arm Cortex-A725 cores paired with a Mali-G720 MC7 GPU, promising up to 30% improvements in performance and power efficiency, according to MediaTek.
The chipset integrates the NPU 880 alongside the Agentic AI Engine, enabling support for global generative AI models, large language models (LLMs), and advanced on-device AI processing.
A newly introduced Dual EIS Engine allows for stabilized 4K60 HDR (HLG) video capture, while Live Broadcast Booster enhances facial clarity during livestreams—achieving this with 7% lower power consumption than traditional full-scene AI processing.
Upgrades in Gaming, Imaging, and Connectivity -
For photography, the Imagiq 1080 ISP supports in-sensor zoom (QPD remosaic), zero-lag HDR, and 100% phase detection autofocus (PDAF). Gamers benefit from HyperEngine MAGT 3.0, which improves touch responsiveness and optimizes the handoff between 5G and Wi-Fi networks.
Additional features include support for WQHD+ displays at 144Hz, dual-screen setups, and ultra-fast 5G Advanced connectivity with speeds up to 5.17 Gbps, along with 3CC carrier aggregation. The chipset also includes UltraSave 3.0+ for improved battery efficiency.
