HUAWEI Mate X7 launched with 8-inch foldable and 6.49-inch quad-curved outer 120Hz LTPO displays, IP58 + IP59 ratings

HUAWEI has launched its latest foldable smartphone in the Mate series, the HUAWEI Mate X7 in China, launched alongside the Mate 80 series and serving as the successor to last year’s Mate X6. The device features an 8-inch foldable display with 2500 nits peak brightness and a 6.49-inch outer display that reaches 3000 nits. Both panels support 1–120Hz LTPO refresh rate and 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming.
The Mate X7 comes in five colour options: Obsidian Black, Cloud Brocade Blue, Cloud Brocade White, Cosmic Red, and Phantom Purple. It is also the first smartphone to incorporate Yun Brocade craftsmanship, an intangible cultural heritage art. The phone weighs 235g, measures 4.5mm thick when unfolded and 9.5mm when folded, and carries IP58 and IP59 ratings for splash, water, and dust resistance.

For imaging, the device features the second-generation Red Maple Imaging system with a miniaturized camera module—bringing flagship-level photography capabilities to a foldable device. It includes a 50MP variable-aperture main camera paired with a 3.5x optical periscope telephoto lens, a 40MP ultra-wide camera, and a second-generation Red Maple primary colour sensor.

The Mate X7 Collector’s Edition claims that its 1/1.28-inch main sensor captures 100% more light than the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max, while its F2.2 periscope telephoto lens gathers 127% more light. It also supports Tiantong satellite communication and BeiDou satellite messaging, whereas the standard version supports BeiDou messaging only.
Powering the device is a 5600mAh battery with support for 66W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging. HUAWEI says overall performance has improved by over 42%. Additional features include emergency communication without network access and an outdoor exploration mode offering up to 10 days of extreme battery life.
