Apple pulls the plug on iOS 8.0.1 update after users claim Network, TouchID issues
Apple is in a bit of a fix after releasing a bug-fix iOS 8.0.1 update. The OTA update which was supposed to fix several bugs, instead added a few of its own including no cellular connectivity and unusable TouchID. For now, Apple has pulled the plug on the update and will release a fix soon. If you were unlucky to have updated to iOS 8.0.1 there's a simple enough fix.
Fix your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus after iOS 8.0.1 update ruined it:
- Download the iOS 8 image from Apple
- Start iTunes and Plug your iPhone in.
- Hold the Option Key and select Update on your Phone's screen.
- Select the IPSW file you downloaded and let your phone roll-back to iOS 8
- None of apps, messages, settings will be removed.
OR
- You can head over to an Apple Store nearby and they will do it for you.
Apple is working on a fix, and for the time being it seems the issue only surfaces on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. At present we would just recommend not to install the update.
