Amazon's Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10 tablets go official alongwith a refreshed Kids Edition Tablet

Alongwith the Fire Tablet, Amazon also expanded its portfolio of the Fire HD tablet series. The new line-up now has the Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10 tablets both running Android 5.0 Lollipop based FireOS 5 "Bellini."

Fire HD 8 comes with a 8-inch HD display while just as the name suggests Fire HD 10 gets a 10-inch HD display with 1200x800 pixels resolution, running on MediaTek's quad-core MT8135 chipset with PowerVR G6200 GPU. There's 1GB RAM onboard with expandable storage. Both run on the latest Fire OS 5 build based on Android Lollipop. Amazon has also added a 5MP rear camera on both the Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10 alongwith a 720p HD front camera.

Connectivity options include dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth. Battery-life on both is slated around 8 hours with mixed-usage although there is no mention of actual battery capacity.

The Amazon Fire HD 8 comes in black, magenta, tangerine, and blue colors priced at $149.99 for the 8GB storage variant and $169.99 for the 16GB variant. I would recommend going for the 16GB variant even though storage is expandable here. The Fire HD 10 comes in more classic color options, just black or white starting at $229.99 (about Rs. 15,100) for 16GB storage variant and $259.99 (about Rs. 17,100) for the 32GB variant. Both are available from Amazon.com starting today and ship September 30.

But that's not all, you also get 2-year warranty with this, over 20,000 curated age appropriate websites and YouTube videos with the Fire kids Tablet alongwith one-year subscription to Amazon FreeTime Unlimited.

Coming back to the specs once more, you have a 7-inch 1024x600 pixels display here, quad-core processor with 1GB RAM, 8GB expandable storage running Android 5.0 Lollipop based FireOS 5. You can get the Amazon Fire Kids Tablet for $99.99 with blue or pink case. It is also available on Amazon.com and ships September 30.
