Sony Smartband 2 launched with heart-rate monitor for $132

Although Sony's smartwatch endeavors haven't fared that well for the company, they are still foraying into the smart/fitness band segment with the new Smartband 2. The second-gen Smartband comes with a heart-rate monitor priced at USD 132 ( approx. INR 8600).

Smartband 2 tracks your fitness with a pedometer, sleep patterns and a heart-rate monitor. Sony says that with the inclusion of the heart-rate sensor, the band can now judge your mood and stress level as well. All this information will be synced with Sony's Lifelog app. If we talk of compatibility, then you can use any Android 4.4 KitKat or above running device to pair with the Smartband 2 or Apple devices running iOS 8.2 or up.

It weighs in at just 25 grams, and comes with IP68 dust and water resistance. It has a 58 mAh battery with Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC connectivity. It will be launched simultaneously in 60 countries next month but we don't know whether India will be in the first launch wave. Sony is up for quite a competition with Fitbit, Xiaomi Mi Band already present in India.
