Samsung Galaxy M17e 5G launching in India on March 17 with 6000mAh battery, Dimensity 6300 SoC, Android 16
Samsung has announced the upcoming launch of its popular M series lineup, the Galaxy M17e 5G in the Indian market on March 17, following the launch of the Galaxy M17 in October last year. It's targeted at younger users, with a focus on large battery capacity, display features, and long-term software support.
Display and Design -
The Galaxy M17e 5G sports a 6.7-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It also features Adaptive Brightness with High Brightness Mode (HBM), which automatically adjusts screen visibility based on surrounding lighting conditions.
In terms of design, the phone has an 8.2mm slim profile and uses a Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) back panel. It features a key island design for easier access to the buttons and carries an IP54 rating, providing basic protection against dust and water splashes. The device will be offered in Vibe Violet and Blitz Blue colour options.
Hardware and Performance -
The device is powered by the octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G processor, paired with an Arm Mali-G57 GPU. The built-in modem supports multiple 5G bands, ensuring broader network compatibility across India.
It packs a 6000mAh battery, and the battery management system works alongside One UI 8 optimizations, which can automatically place unused apps into sleep mode to improve power efficiency.
Camera -
For photography, the Galaxy M17e 5G features a 50MP primary rear camera along with a 2MP depth sensor for portrait effects. On the front, it includes an 8MP camera for selfies and video calls.
Software and AI Features -
The smartphone runs One UI 8.0 based on Android 16 out of the box. Some of the interface enhancements include:
- Large Folders - Allows better organization of apps on the home screen.
- Now Bar & Live Notifications - Shows real-time updates and ongoing activities, such as timers or media playback, directly on the lock screen.
The software also integrates AI-powered features, including Google Gemini for tasks like text generation and summarization, as well as Circle to Search, which lets users search for items visible on the screen without leaving the current app.
Samsung has also promised six generations of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the device.
After launch, the Galaxy M17e 5G will be available on Amazon.in, as well as through the Samsung India online store and offline retail outlets.
