Nothing Phone (2a) Name Confirmed, Along with Upcoming CMF Buds and CMF Neckband Pro
Nothing confirmed the forthcoming launch of its latest smartphone the Nothing Phone (2a) in its Q4 2023 community update. It also outlined plans to introduce new audio products within the year.
Nothing additionally reported robust performance across India, the Middle East, Germany, Hong Kong, and the U.K., achieving a combined 2 million unit sales market by the end of 2023 in a significantly abbreviated timeframe.
Throughout 2023, Nothing emphasized its focus on expanding engineering capabilities across seven global offices, culminating in successfully releasing two second-generation products – the Nothing Phone (2) and the Nothing Ear (2).
Nothing Phone (2a) -
Nothing states that the Phone (2a) has been meticulously engineered to prioritize delivering the ultimate daily smartphone experience, focusing squarely on fundamental user requirements, and leveraging all of Nothing’s expertise and craftsmanship.
Carl Pei has already hinted at the codename Aerodactyl. The phone will incorporate some of the most beloved Phone (2) features while ensuring a discernible upgrade compared to Phone (1) across all aspects, as stated by the company.
According to previous speculations, the Nothing Phone (2a) is rumored to boast a 6.7″ 120Hz AMOLED screen, powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC. It is expected to feature a 50MP 1/1.5″ Samsung S5KGN9 sensor along with a 50MP Samsung S5KJN1 ultra-wide camera at the rear and a 32MP Sony IMX615 sensor for the front.
Additionally, it has been disclosed that the phone will be available in 8GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB variants, omitting the 12GB + 512GB model like the Nothing Phone (2).
The phone is slated to be offered in Black and White colors and is anticipated to be priced under 400 Euros (USD 431 / Rs. 35,835 approx.) for the base model. Further details are expected at the MWC 2024, as the company has announced an event scheduled for February 27th at the MWC 2024.
CMF Buds and CMF Neckband Pro -
Following a mysterious teaser, CMF by Nothing has unveiled that CMF Buds and CMF Neckband Pro are on the horizon, withholding further specifics.
Given that the CMF Buds Pro debuted last year, the Buds are presumed to be a more budget-friendly model, while the Neckband marks a new product category. With the "Pro" designation, it's likely that ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) support will be included.
Glyph Developer Kit -
Moreover, the company announced the launch of the Glyph Developer Kit, enabling third-party Android apps to manage the Glyph Interface, exclusive to Nothing smartphones.
Additionally, Nothing appointed Jillian Gerngross as the new VP of Marketing. With 12 years of experience at Amazon Music, she will supervise the global marketing strategy, including the launches of Nothing phones and new audio products, with the company aiming to enhance the category's enjoyment.
