New Lumia devices, Surface coming October 6th?
Microsoft has just begun sending out invites for an event on October 6th in New York where the company is expected to launch new Lumia devices and Surface tablet. The invite reads "We have exciting news to share about Windows 10 devices" clearly hinting at the rumored Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL alongwith the Surface 4 Pro.
Although we have seen some renders and specs of both the new Lumia's there has been no official confirmation from Microsoft on this front. Windows 10 Mobile is also lagging quite a way behind the launch of its desktop counterpart and there have been rumors/speculations about Microsoft's move away from its mobile platform. The new Lumia 940 and Lumia 940XL would re-invigorate the ecosystem with high-end specs including quad-HD Displays, Snapdragon 800 and PureView cameras. You can have a look at leaked specs on these here.
Next up is the new Surface 4 Pro, this is again going to be the best Surface ever. We might see a new hinge-design, a new touch-cover but overall its still going to the best tablet/laptop hybrid money can buy. It would be interesting to see what design changes, if any, are introduced with the Surface 4 Pro. There are a feew expectations though, including Biometric login for Windows Hello, 6th-gen Intel Skylake processor running the innards with some nifty software tricks.
We have also got word that Microsoft might introduce Windows 10 for XBOX at the event alongwith a new Microsoft Band for fitness enthusiasts. But this is all conjecture at this time and we'll know more at the event come October 6th.
