Instagram to launch a messaging service this Thursday?

Instagram is all but ready to launch its Messaging service tomorrow, atleast that's what we've heard. We are almost certain about the launch of the new messaging service which will form a part of the main interface as a separate section of the Tab bar. The service may incorporate images and video sharing as well, because well that's what Instagram already does.

But what remains to be seen is whether the service will actually be based on ephemeral messages. At present, disappearing messages are all the rage with Snapchat being the only nameworthy player in the field. Therefore, it would only be prudent for Instagram to go ephemeral messaging route. Combined with its already popular image sharing service, messaging just seems like a logical extension. To add fuel to the rumors going around, the invitation to the press for Thursday's event calls for a few "moments" of your time. Again leading to the same conclusion that we might have a Snapchat competitor at hand.
