Xiaomi's YI 4K Action Camera with Sony Sensor is here to take on the Go Pro Hero
Xiaomi UI 4K Action camera just went official with a Sony IMX377 12MP sensor. It can record up to 4K vidoes at 30FPS and has a smallish 2.19-inch display unlike its GoPro competition.
Talking of specs, Yi 4K Action camera uses the Sony IMX377 sensor with f/2.8 aperture lens which has a 155 degree wide-viewing angle. You can record 4K videos at 30fps, 1080p videos at upto 120 fps and 720p videos at a maximum of 240fps for those cool slow-motion shots.
It uses the Ambarella A9SE SoC which is build on a 28nm process and supports 3-dimensional image stabilization with rolling shutter correction. It consists of a dual-core Cortex A9 CPU. Coming back to the YI Camera, it also has a microSD card slot support dual-band WiFiac (2.4GHz and 5GHz) with Bluetooth 4.0 support. You also have dual microphones and a 6-axis gyroscope for Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS.)
Xiaomi has packed a 1400 mAh battery on the Yi 4K Action Camera.
Pricing and Availability
The Xiaomi YI 4K Action camera will be available in white, black and pink colors priced at CNY 1199 (about $180 or Rs. 12200) for the standard package, if you add in a Bluetooth remote and selfie stick the price increases to CNY 1299 (about $200 or Rs. 13300.)
Just like the GoPro Hero series of cameras, there will be a lot of accessories for the YI Action camera as well inlcluding waterproof case, covers and such, all of which will be available later. You can only buy the Xiaomi YI 4K action camera from China's crowd funding site JD.com and will start shipping in June.
