Xiaomi Mi 4s announced with Snapdragon 808, 3GB RAM, fingerprint sensor
Ahead of the Mi 5 launch at MWC 2016, Xiaomi has announced a new smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 4s at an event in China.
Running on a Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor with 3GB RAM, 64GB expandable storage, the Xiaomi Mi 4s gets a 5-inch 1080p display and Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 7. It has a 13MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) accompanied by a 5MP front-facing camera. There is not much detail about the aperture or sensors used in the cameras.
Coming to connectivity, the Mi 4s from Xiaomi is dual-SIM 4G LTE capable smartphone alongwith a microSD card slot for storage expansion. It has VoLTE support on 4G networks, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and uses a USB Type-C port for data-syncing/charging.
Xiaomi has also packed a fingerprint-sensor on the Mi 4s, at the back similar to its Redmi Note 3 line-up. If we talk about build, it seems to have a glass front and back, with a metal frame holding everything together. The volume and power buttons are on the right, while the SIM slots are on the left with the speaker at the bottom. There's nothing out of place. Moving to the top you can see the IR Blaster alongwith the noise-cancellation microphone, audio jack, pretty standard stuff for Xiaomi.
There is a 3260 mAh battery on the Mi 4s which supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 standard and a fast charger should be included in the box.
Pricing and Availability
The Xiaomi Mi 4s will come in black, white, pink and gold colors going on sale from March 1st in China priced at 1699 Yuan which roughly translates to about Rs. 17,800 or US$ 260. At present there is no word on global availability.
