Vivo has announced that it will launch its latest smartphone in the Y series, the Vivo Y500 in China on September 1st, succeeding last year’s Vivo Y300. The new model packs an 8200mAh battery—up from the 6500mAh in its predecessor, which the company claims is its longest-lasting battery to date.

The Y500 also features IP69+/IP69/IP68-rated waterproofing, touted as vivo’s most advanced water protection yet. In addition, it has earned the SGS Gold Label five-star certification for drop and impact resistance, along with military-grade environmental durability testing.

Vivo says the device represents multiple firsts in its history. The teaser highlights a punch-hole display, dual rear cameras with a ring-shaped LED flash, and color options in Black, Blue, and Violet.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the Y500 will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, a step up from the Dimensity 6300 used in the Y300. The phone is also expected to feature an FHD+ 120Hz OLED display, a 50MP main camera with a secondary sensor, and an 8MP front camera.

More details are expected to surface in the days leading up to its official debut next week.
