Samsung Brings One UI to Smart Home Appliances with 7-Year Software Update
Samsung Electronics has extended its One UI platform to smart home appliances, creating a unified software experience across smartphones, TVs, and now household devices. With this rollout, Samsung Wi-Fi–enabled appliances introduced in 2024 will receive seven years of updates, enhancing functionality and security.
Unified Software Across Devices -
One UI ensures a consistent interface across phones, TVs, and appliances, featuring:
- Apps & Services - Access to apps like Bixby, Gallery, and Samsung TV Plus across different screens for seamless media and device interaction.
- Smart Connectivity - SmartThings integration for centralized control of home devices and services such as Family Care, Pet Care, and Home Care.
- UI Features - Tools like Now Brief deliver at-a-glance information on weather, schedules, recipes, and appliance insights (e.g., wash cycle status).
Long-Term Software Support -
All Wi-Fi smart appliances released from 2024 are confirmed to receive seven years of software updates, ensuring extended usability, performance, and security.
September 2025 Update Rollout -
Starting September 2025, eligible 2024 appliances will gain improvements in four key areas:
Security Enhancements -
- Knox Matrix security extended to refrigerators, washers, dryers, ACs, induction ranges, and EHS devices.
- Trust Chain feature to monitor the security of connected devices.
- Encrypted Credential Sync, Passkey support, and Knox Security dashboard for screen-equipped models like Family Hub refrigerators (9”) and Bespoke AI washers (7”).
Smarter Features -
- AI Vision Inside in Family Hub refrigerators now recognizes both fresh and packaged foods.
- Bixby Voice ID enables personalized experiences by distinguishing users’ voices.
- Quick Bixby activation via double-tap on screen.
Service Expansion -
- Samsung TV Plus expands to Canada, Brazil, and India.
- 7” screen washers add support for eight Indian languages, including Bengali, Punjabi, and Gujarati.
Refined Interface -
The refreshed One UI design introduced on 2025 models will also be applied to eligible 2024 appliances, offering simplified navigation and localized settings.
Availability -
Eligible Samsung smart appliances launched in 2024 will begin receiving updates in September 2025, with guaranteed support for seven years from launch.
