Sony India has begun sending out press invites for the launch of the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium smartphones on October 21. Showcased at IFA 2015, the Z5 series boasts of a new 23MP camera sensor with Hybrid AF which can track an object in just 0.03 seconds. It is capable of recording 4K videos.
The Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium both run on the Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor and Sony has made sure it doesn't overheat this time around. Now, before I forget, the Xperia Z5 Premium has one unique feature, it is the world's first smartphone with a 4K display. That's a resolution of 3840 x 2106 pixels giving the display a pixel density of 806 PPI.
Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Specs and Photos
Both the Xperia Z5 smartphones get 3GB RAM, 32GB expandable storage with the same 23MP rear and 5MP front cameras. Being a Sony smartphone these are IPX5/IP68 rated for dust and water resistance as well with capless microUSB port.
The fingerprint sensor on these is present on the power button which is housed on the right of the smartphone which seems like a perfect place, even more-so than the front. Connectivity options include 4G LTE support with dual-band WiFi MIMO support, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS with GLONASS, MHL 3.0, NFC and FM Radio. Sony has also packed in support for LDAC codec with support for hi-definition audio recording and playback. You can check out detailed specs of the Xperia Z5 here.
