Sony starts updating the Xperia Tablet S to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
Sony had already announced its update schedule for its 2012 line-up which only included phones, and the Xperia T, Xperia V as well as the Xperia J have already received their updates to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Therefore, the company is now focusing on the Xperia Tablet S (announced August 2012) which is being upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The OTA update is about 412MB, therefore you should download it where you have a decent Wi-Fi connection and some time to spare. You can also update Xperia Tablet S through the Sony PC Companion application installed on your Windows machine or Mac.
Some of the new features that will be added with the update are:
- WALKMAN®, Album and Movies support for DLNA Controller function (3Box function)
- Movies app adds support for playing closed captioned video content distributed through Video Unlimited
- Album app gets improved User Interface and will be similar in design to the dashboard concept as WALKMAN and Movies apps.
- The Camera app also gets a UI bump.
- Scrapbook gets Map clipping and Clip widget
- Browser gets support for bookmark
- On-screen keyboard now supports new Portuguese orthographic
- As well as a new TV SideView application
To install the update atleast 300MB on internal storage must be free.
