Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Memory details Surfcaed; Galaxy S24 with 8GB RAM, and Galaxy S24 Ultra with up to 12GB RAM
Samsung is preparing to introduce its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S24 series, within the next two months. Tipster Ice Universe has disclosed the RAM specifications for these phones. As per Ice Universe's information, the Galaxy S24 is set to have 8GB of RAM, whereas the S24+ will provide options with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM. Interestingly, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will also present choices of 8GB and 12GB of RAM, omitting the previously rumored 16GB RAM variant.
Ice Universe suggests that the decision to stick with 8GB for the S24, contrary to earlier speculations, was influenced by Samsung Mobile head TM Roh. Roh insisted on this choice, citing the memory-intensive demands of One UI 6's backend memory management mechanism, although the exact reason remains unclear. The specific details of RAM and storage, potentially LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0, are still unknown.
Samsung recently teased the Galaxy AI, expected to debut with the Galaxy S24 series, offering on-device AI that requires additional memory. Despite this innovation, Samsung's decision to not increase RAM in its flagship phones for four consecutive years might disappoint consumers, especially considering that other Android brands offer smartphones with 16GB or more.
Despite these revelations, the Galaxy S24 series has been extensively unveiled through leaks and renders. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is anticipated to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the S24 and S24+ could come equipped with either Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or Exynos 2400 SoCs.
Pre-order and sale dates for the Galaxy S24 series have surfaced, and the launch event is scheduled for January 17, 2024, in San Jose, USA.
