REDMI 17 5G launched in India starting at Rs. 23,999 with 6.9-inch 120Hz display, Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 SoC, 7900mAh battery
Xiaomi has officially launched its latest smartphone in the popular number series, the REDMI 17 5G in India, as it had announced. It is focused on display quality, performance, battery life, and everyday durability.
Display and Design
The REDMI 17 5G features a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD screen with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a centre-aligned punch-hole cutout. The panel supports up to a 240Hz touch sampling rate and can reach up to 825 nits of brightness in High Brightness Mode, while Corning Gorilla Glass 7i provides added protection.
The smartphone comes with Wet Touch Technology for improved responsiveness when the screen is wet. It also carries triple TÜV Rheinland certifications and supports DC dimming for a more comfortable viewing experience.
On the design front, the device adopts a flat display, matte-finish frame, and Metal Deco styling. Xiaomi has also included a Dynamic RGB Light system that provides visual alerts for incoming calls, charging, gaming, and app notifications.
Performance and Software
The REDMI 17 5G runs on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, built on a 4nm process and featuring an octa-core CPU clocked up to 2.4GHz, paired with an Adreno GPU.
The smartphone is offered with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, with memory extension enabling up to 12GB of combined RAM. It includes 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, which can be expanded by up to 2TB using a microSD card.
The device runs Android 16 with Xiaomi HyperOS 3, bringing smoother system performance, improved responsiveness, and enhanced animation effects.
Camera and Audio
For photography, the REDMI 17 5G features a 50MP AI-powered dual rear camera system with an f/1.8 aperture and LED flash. The camera setup supports dual-view recording, allowing users to capture footage from the front and rear cameras simultaneously.
For selfies and video calls, the smartphone comes with an 8MP front-facing camera featuring an f/2.05 aperture.
Audio is handled by dual stereo speakers with a volume boost mode capable of increasing output by up to 300%. The phone also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack and FM radio support.
Battery and Charging
The REDMI 17 5G packs a large 7,900mAh battery paired with 45W fast charging. Xiaomi says the battery can be fully charged in approximately 96 minutes, while a 35-minute charge can provide enough power for regular daily usage.
The smartphone also supports 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing it to be used as a power source for compatible external accessories.

Pricing and Availability
The REDMI 17 5G is available in Absolute Black, Endless Blue, and Eternal Orange, with the latter featuring a PU leather finish. It will go on sale in India starting September 10 through Amazon.in, mi.com, Xiaomi retail outlets, and offline stores.
