OnePlus 2 to get VoLTE support sometime next Quarter
OnePlus users have been asking about VoLTE support for the OnePlus 2 and other smartphones ever since Jio 4G services were announced. Now, the company has set a timeline for next quarter, meaning in about 3-4 months you will get VoLTE or HD voice support on OP2.
The update will be provided over-the-air (OTA) for the OnePlus 2, while the OnePlus One and OnePlus X won't be getting the feature at all. Instead the company has suggested users to go ahead and install the Jio 4G Voice (formerly JioJoin) app to make calls.
It would be great to see the update the update arrive on the OP2 before the end of the year. But it's disappointing to hear that OnePlus One and OnePlus X won't be getting the update. OnePlus 3 already comes with VoLTE support out of the box. The company had recently rolled out Oxygen OS 3.1.0 update for the OP2 which fixed some issues and added the August security patch, but no VoLTE.
While Moto has begun updating some of its smartphones to enable VoLTE support, other manufacturers like parent company Lenovo, Sony, HTC are still way behind on both software as well as VoLTE updates. Let's not talk about Indian manufacturers, who possibly have never ever even heard the term updates other than launching them with new smartphones in a new box with a plus added to it.
