No invite needed to buy the OnePlus 3
OnePlus is doing away with the frustrating invite system for the OnePlus 3. You won't have to wait for invites to roll-out or sign-up for a queue to get one.
OnePlus 3 is all set to launch on June 14th (June 15 in China) and we have a good idea about the specs of the device with a hint on pricing. Its expected to come with a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display running Android Marshmallow with OxygenOS, 4GB/6GB RAM options. A 16MP rear camera with OIS is also rumored.
Snapdragon 820 will be the processor of choice and NFC is also set to return which would be a huge boon for Android Pay.
Coming to pricing the OnePlus 3 is expected to come in two variants, one with 4GB RAM/32GB storage priced at CNY 1999 (about $300 or Rs. 20,500) and CNY 2499 for the 6GB RAM variant with 64GB onboard storage.
Here's the official announcement:
We’re releasing the OnePlus 3 invite-free, right from launch day. In addition, invites are gone forever from future OnePlus product launches.
The invite system has a special place in our history. When we first started out, our team was incredibly small. We had no idea what the demand of the OnePlus One would look like. We also weren’t fans of flash sales, where there’s a risk of everything selling out immediately, forcing fans to wait indefinitely. To address this, we designed the invite system to give customers a chance to purchase a phone as soon as we had inventory ready.
