Nexus 5X launched in India with 5.2-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 808 starting at Rs. 31990
Google today formally launched the Nexus 5X in India. Although just after the launch the pricing information was leaked through a Google Play Store listing. The Nexus 5X alongwith the Nexus 6P were launched at an event in New Delhi today paving the way forward for Android Marshmallow.
Google has trusted LG again with the Nexus 5X as the company had made one of the most beloved Nexus smartphones ever in the Nexus 5. Although this time both the specs, and design have received a refresh. The Nexus 5X has a slightly larger 5.2-inch 1080p IPS display clad in Corning Gorilla Glass running on the Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor already tried and tested on the LG G4.
But there's just 2GB RAM onboard here, which is a pity given the steep pricing and then there's the non-expandable storage. You can however, choose between 16GB or 32GB onboard storage. But the price difference between the two is quite large. The Nexus 5X 16GB variant is going for Rs. 31,990 while the 32GB variant will cost Rs. 35,900.
The Nexus devices have always been the showcase for the latest Android version, and this time its an incremental update, Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It brings better UI performance, smoother graphics, better battery-life with control on running tasks alongwith improved security. The Nexus 5X also gets a fingerprint sensor to make use of the native support in Marshmallow, which Google intends to call Nexus Imprint.
Then you have an all new 12.3 MP Sony camera sensor for the rear camera which has gathered a good reputation after DXOMark tests. It features larger 1.55 micron pixel size to allow for more light and the camera is now capable of recording 4K video. There is no optical image stabilization here, but low-light images should turn out good due to the larger pixel size.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE support, dual-band WiFi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS with GLONASS. To keep all this running you have a 2700 mAh battery with fast charging over the USB Type-C port.
The Nexus 5X will be available through Amazon starting today at 2PM for pre-order alongwith several retail stores including Chroma, The Mobile Store, Sangeetha Mobiles, Bajaj Electronics and others. Moreover you also get a free Bluetooth Headset worth Rs. 2500 with the Nexus 5X alongwith one-time free screen-replacement worth Rs. 6500. You can also avail Rs. 3500 cashback if you use a HDFC Bank debit/credit card.
