Gionee F103 is the company's first "Made In India" smartphone
Gionee today announced its first "Made in India" smartphone, the Gionee F103. The F103 is already available in India priced at Rs. 9999 but was previously sourced from China.
The Gionee F103 will now be manufactured in partnership with Foxconn in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, India. The phones manufactured in this facility will not just be for local consumption but for export to other South Asian countries as well as Africa.
Coming back to the F103, it packs a 5-inch HD display running on a MediaTek MT6735 quad-core 64-bit processor with 2GB RAM, 16GB expandable storage. It is a 4G LTE dual-SIM smartphone running Android Lollipop based Amigo OS.
There is a 8MP camera at the back with a 5MP selfie camera here. Gionee has packed in a rather sizable 2400 mAh battery on the F103. Moreover, the company wants to focus on style with its new Fashion series of which the F103 is the first smartphone. It flaunts a glass front and back with Asahi DragonTrail Glass Protection as well as a metal frame surrounding it.
Gionee earlier also launched the Elife E8 in India a few days ago which runs on the new Amigo OS 3.1 that comes with 9 local Indian languages support among other customizations made specifically for the Indian customer.
The company also announced that they have sold over 7 million smartphones in India till now and plan to doubke the number in 2015-16. Gionee's Make In India venture will tremendous boost to the availability of its products in India alongwith better support infrastructure.
