Moto X to be rebranded as Moto Z, two phones launching in June
We are not yet done with Motorola news for the day. It seems Lenovo is planning to re-brand the Moto X series to Moto Z, and we may see the Moto Z Style and Moto Z Play later in June at the Lenovo Tech World 2016.
According to Evan Blass, Lenovo is planning to change the name of the Motorola flagships to Moto Z from the Moto X. According to the report, the two devices set to launch under the Moto Z brand name are being called Vertex and Vector Thin internally. Both will come with 5.5-inch displays and at launch the Vector Thin would be called the Moto Z Style and the Vertex, Moto Z Play.
Lenovo is holding its annual tech conference, Tech World 2016 where the company is expected to announce both phones. There is a modular element to the new Moto Z smartphones as well and they would come with attachments/modules called MotoMods. You can see the 16-pin connector at the back, which would be used to interface with the accessory. There is not much detail on the modular component of the new Moto X or Moto Z smartphones but it would be interesting to see what Lenovo and Motorola have come up with.
Earlier today Lenovo launched 3 new phones in the Moto G4 series, the Moto G4 Play, Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus. The Moto G4 plus will be available in India starting midnight tonight on Amazon.in while the Moto G4 will come in June, there is no word on availability or pricing of the Moto G4 Play.
