Exclusive: Moto E (2nd-Gen) 4G Gets Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in India
Motorola has started rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Moto E (2nd-gen) 4G in India.
Last we heard soak tests were on in India for the Marshmallow update for the 2nd-Gen Moto E, and now the company has begun rolling out the final build to consumers.
If you remember, Motorola had earlier excluded the Moto E (2nd Gen) from devices getting Marshmallow update, but later the 4G LTE variant was added for some regions. India was one of where the update will be rolling out including Canada, Latin America, Europe and Asia.
Motorola hasn't gone into much detail as to what changes we will see with the new update on the 2015 Moto E, but there are a lot of performance improvements along with better battery-life in store for you. Moto Assist will also take a back-seat to Android's improved Do Not Disturb functionality. Then there's faster, smoother animations, Google Now on Tap, Doze Mode and several other enhancements as well.
Coming back to the Marshmallow update, it weighs in at 453.9 MB and will give your Moto E software version 24.51.39.en.03 carrying the current February 2016 security patch from Google. Sadly, the 3G variant of the Moto E (2nd-Gen) will not get updated to Marshmallow.
At present we are hearing that the update is being rolled out in stages throughout the country and other regions as well. If you haven't got an update yet, just go into Settings -> About Phone -> Check for updates.
