MIUI 8 stable release pushed to August 23
Xiaomi has announced that MIUI 8 stable update will now be rolling out from August 23 instead of August 16 as was previously told.
MIUI 8 would be coming with Android Marshmallow for only the Mi line-up of devices while the Redmi devices will still run on Android Lollipop. But there are a lot of changes and improvements coming with MIUI 8 including dual apps where you can use two WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger accounts on the same phone. Then there's a completely redesigned notification shade with a single-page layout. For a full list of features you can have a look at the video below.
The company had also said that Split-screen Multitasking will be making it to the final build, atleast on the China ROM. Xiaomi had earlier also announced that the next version, MIUI 9, would be based on Android Nougat which would be great for current as well as prospective devices, as most Xiaomi smartphones are still stuck on Lollipop.
At present there is no confirmation as to when the stable build of Global MIUI 8 ROM will start rolling out but a timeframe just after the China ROM is expected. We will update the story with word from Xiaomi. In the meanwhile if you want to install the public beta of MIUI 8 on your smartphone, we have a very handy guide here.
