MediaTek launches MT6592 True Octa-Core chipset, upto 2 GHz speed and ultra HD playback

    Mediatek True Quadcore

MediaTek has finally launched the MT6592 true Octa-Core chipset, which was detailed back in July. This is the world's first commercially available true octa-core chipset where all individual cores can operate independently and can utilize these in any combination for better low-power or performance tasks. If we go into technology behind the processor, it uses Heterogeneous Multi-Processing with each clocked at upto 2 GHz.

Here are the main features of the chipset:

    • ARM Cortex-A7 processing cores in an octa-core configuration with clock speed upto 2 GHz per core
    • 28nm HPM high-performance manufacturing process
    • GPU: Mali 450 MP4
    • Heterogeneous Multi-Processing (HMP) with advanced power control and new scheduling also for optimized performance
    • Ultra-HD 4K x 2K H.264 video playback
    • 16-megapixel camera supported
    • Full HD 1080p displays supported
    • Dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi, MiraCast, Bluetooth, GPS and FM tuner supported

MediaTek explained the use of the dated ARM Cortex-A7 cores due to its lower thermal footprint and power consumption. The chipset will make its way to Android Jelly Bean devices by the end of the year and later for Android 4.4 KitKat.
