Lenovo to launch its new Moto Z series with 10x Optical Zoom, RAZR thin design
Lenovo Tech World will begin in less than 12 hours in San Francisco and the company is going to showcase its new Moto Z series smartphones along with other innovations.
Moto Z Vector Thin and Moto Z Vertex
Although Lenovo is not bringing the RAZR back, but the new Moto Z series smartphones may feature modular components called Moto Mods. As the company puts it, "Snapping is the new Flipping."
On the back of the Moto Z you can see a 16-pin connector which would allow transfer of data and power between the Moto Mods and the phone. The three Mods that have leaked till now are a Speaker, Projector and a camera module. The Camera Mod which has its own sensor, shutter key, flash may also feature 10X optical zoom according to one of the teasers from the company.
Another teaser showed off the thinness of the phone, but that may just be the Moto Z Vector Thin which will be replacing the Moto X Style.
Lenovo Phab 2 Pro (Project Tango Smartphone)
We may also see the first commercial Project Tango smartphone called the Phab 2 Pro with a 6.4-inch Quad-HD display and a three camera array at the back.
Just a couple of days ago, we saw a leaked render of the smartphone which sits well with previous rumors about the phone. Project Tango is all about Augmented Reality which lets you map your surroundings and then play with it in real time. Consider you are an interior-designer, you can map and entire house and even without going there you can show your client your designs based on actual measurements with complete precision. Next application would be indoor mapping.
If done correctly, Moto Mods may just steal the show as we still haven't had a real modular smartphone. The LG G5 lacks proper execution, Project ARA is still quite a long way, so Motorola really has a chance to wow us with the new Moto Z series.
