JioStar Launches JioHotstar After Merging JioCinema & Disney+ Hotstar

JioStar, the newly formed joint venture following the merger of Viacom18 and Star India, has announced the launch of JioHotstar, a platform combining JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar. According to the company, JioHotstar offers nearly 300,000 hours of content and boasts a user base of over 500 million.

The company described JioHotstar’s new brand identity as a reflection of its vision for limitless entertainment. The ‘Big Bang’ represents the beginning of a new era, while the ‘Ripples’ symbolize energy, transformation, and innovation.

In February 2023, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Viacom18, and Disney announced a joint venture to merge Viacom18 and Star India in a Rs. 70,352 crore ($8.5 billion) deal, which was finalized in November 2024.

Global Content Lineup -

JioHotstar will bring together an unmatched selection of Hollywood content, featuring Disney, NBCUniversal Peacock, Warner Bros. Discovery HBO, and Paramount—all on a single platform, a unique offering in the global streaming industry.

New Creator Initiative – ‘Sparks’ -

The company has also introduced ‘Sparks’, a flagship initiative designed to highlight India’s leading digital creators through engaging and innovative content formats.

JioHotstar Subscription Plans -

JioHotstar continues to offer Mobile, Super, and Premium subscription plans, with additional three-month plan options. The Premium plan is also available on a monthly basis.

🔹Super Plan (Ad-Supported) -

• Rs. 299 / 3 months or Rs. 899 / year

• Rs. 299 / month (Available only via web browser)

What Happens to Existing JioCinema Subscribers? -

JioCinema subscribers will receive a JioHotstar Premium subscription for the same duration as their current JioCinema plan. However, JioCinema subscriptions will no longer be renewed starting February 15th. Once the existing subscription expires, users can choose from the available JioHotstar plans.

For Users with Both JioCinema & Disney+ Hotstar Subscriptions -

If you have both JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar subscriptions, you will receive JioHotstar Premium for the same period as your JioCinema subscription. After your JioCinema plan expires, your Disney+ Hotstar subscription will remain active as usual. 🎬🔥
