Corning Unveils Gorilla Armor 2 on Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra; A Breakthrough in Mobile Display Protection
Corning Incorporated has introduced its latest innovation, Corning Gorilla Armor 2, which is now featured on the newly launched Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. This advanced glass-ceramic cover material offers scratch resistance and anti-reflective properties tailored for mobile devices.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra's front display showcases this cutting-edge material, representing a significant leap forward in mobile display technology. Corning emphasized that Gorilla Armor 2 delivers exceptional durability while maintaining superior display clarity.
Compared to its predecessor, Gorilla Armor 2 is notably more robust, offering enhanced resistance to daily wear and tear. The material is specifically designed to withstand damage, such as cracks, from impacts on hard surfaces.
Its anti-reflective properties effectively minimize surface reflections in both indoor and outdoor settings, enhancing display contrast and the overall user experience.
Laboratory tests conducted by Corning revealed that Gorilla Armor 2 could withstand drops from heights of up to 2.2 meters onto concrete-like surfaces, outperforming competing materials, which failed at just one meter. Additionally, it offers more than four times the scratch resistance of rival lithium-aluminosilicate cover glasses with anti-reflective coatings.
Samsung's adoption of Gorilla Armor 2 in the Galaxy S25 Ultra underscores the ongoing partnership between the two companies, highlighting their shared commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.
Kwangjin Bae, EVP and Head of the Mechanical R&D Team for the Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, commented on the Galaxy S25 Ultra:
"The Galaxy S25 Ultra represents a significant leap in providing our users with the most durable mobile experience yet. Our enduring partnership with Corning continues to set new standards in display performance, enabling us to meet the evolving demands of consumers worldwide."
David Velasquez, Vice President and General Manager of Corning Gorilla Glass, also spoke about the collaboration:
"Samsung and Corning share a long-standing commitment to bringing cutting-edge, innovative technologies to consumers. With Gorilla Armor 2, we’re delivering an unparalleled user experience through the first-ever durable, optically advanced glass-ceramic cover material used on a Galaxy device."
