Asus Announces the First Ever Windows 10 Laptop with Snapdragon Processor
We have seen Qualcomm Snapdragon processors on countless smartphones. But now the company is planning to take on the PC with Snapdragon-powered computers. And, Asus made it real by unveiling the world’s first Snapdragon Windows laptop - NovaGo.
Apart from being the first ever Snapdragon mobile processor powered laptop, it is also the first Gigabit LTE-capable computer. Asus unveiled the new machine at the Snapdragon Technology Summit in Maui, Hawaii.
When it comes down to specifications, the Asus NovaGo comes with a full HD 13.3-inch display with an HD camera. The chicklet keyboard is backlit and the touchpad is covered with glass. Thankfully it uses Windows Precision drivers. You will also get a fingerprint scanner for quick unlock.
The main highlight of the laptop is the processor itself. Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 coupled with Adreno 540 GPU is in charge of its processing duties. The X16 modem inside the chipset can offer a maximum downloading speed of up to 1 Gbps and upload speed of 150 Mbps.
The company claims over 20+ hours backup from its 52Wh Li-Po battery. Asus has included two USB 3.1 Type-A ports, one HDMI port, a power port, an audio jack, a nano-SIM slot, and a micro SD card reader. You have the option to choose the 4 GB/ 64 GB variant or the 8 GB/ 256 GB variant. The price starts from $599 for the basic variant and you will have to spend $200 for the higher storage option.
The Asus NovoGo will be available in the US, UK, Italy, France, Germany, China, Taiwan during the initial period of launch. In the US, the Asus NovaGo laptop will be sold through T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon carriers. At present, there is no word if the laptop will be sold in India.
