Apple is reportedly preparing to launch its first OLED MacBook Pro with a touchscreen display, expected to enter mass production in 2026, according to supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

    Touchscreen with On-Cell Technology -

The upcoming OLED MacBook Pro will feature on-cell touch technology, which integrates touch sensors directly into the display’s top layer, eliminating the need for a separate touch layer. This approach makes the panel thinner while improving responsiveness.

Kuo notes that Apple’s move is influenced by “long-term observations of iPad user behavior,” suggesting that touch controls could enhance productivity and overall user experience in certain use cases. Samsung is expected to supply the OLED panels for these MacBook Pro models.

Affordable MacBook Won’t Support Touch -

Alongside the Pro lineup, Apple is also working on a more affordable MacBook powered by an iPhone processor, slated for production in Q4 2025. This model will not include touch functionality, though Apple is reportedly considering adding it in a second-generation version planned for 2027.

    Launch Timeline -

Previous reports hinted that M5-powered MacBook Pro models could arrive as early as late 2025. However, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggested in July that Apple was weighing a delay until early 2026—a timeline that now matches Kuo’s prediction for the first OLED, touch-enabled MacBook Pro.
