Android Marshmallow rolling out to Nexus 5, Nexus 6, 7, 9 and Nexus Player starting next week
Alongwith the launch of new Nexus hardware, Google also announced the availability of Android 6.0 Marshmallow to previous-gen Nexus devices.
The company said that final build of Android 6.0 Marshmallow will start rolling out to the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, 7, 9 and the Nexus Player starting next week. Although the exact date was not mentioned, according to previous rumors we expect it to roll out from October 5th onwards.
There are a lot of new additions to Android with Marshmallow update including granular permissions control, better material design animations, voice actions, Google Now on Tap alongwith support for Android Pay with Nexus Imprint. Android 6.0 will also come with Doze battery-saving technology for better idle battery-life performance. Google said that there was a 30% improvement in battery-life with the screen-off on the previous-gen Nexus devices with the Marshmallow update.
It will be an OTA update, but factory images should be up next week as well.
