Xiaomi Mi 4c goes official with Snapdragon 808, USB Type-C, Quick Charging
Xiaomi today announced the Mi 4c in China, which is an upgraded version of the Mi 4i which was launched earlier in India. The Xiaomi Mi 4c comes with the same 5-inch 1080p display, but with an upgraded hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor with either 2/3 GB RAM coupled with 16/32 GB storage running Android Lollipop based MIUI 6, but it will be upgraded to MIUI 7 in a couple of weeks.
It comes with a 13MP rear camera from either Sony (IMX258) or Samsung (S5K3M2) alongwith Phase-detection AutoFocus (PDAF) for super-fast autofocus in less than 0.1 seconds. Accompanying it is a 5MP wide-angle front facing camera. Xiaomi has also packed in a 3080 mAh battery here which supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 with its USB Type-C connector. Something OnePlus needs to look at.
There is a built-in IR blaster here too to control your home appliances including your TV, AC, audio players and more. You now also have double tap to wake and what Xiaomi is calling Edge Tap on the Mi 4c. Using Edge Tap, you can double tap on the side of the phone to go back, single tap to capture images in camera among other features.
Pricing and Availability
The Xiaomi Mi 4c is again an affordable device, priced at RMB 1299 (US$204 or Rs. Rs. 13,400) for 2GB RAM with 16GB Storage variant, and RMB 1499 (US$235 or Rs. 15,500) for 3GB RAM with 32GB Storage. There will be a variety of colors to choose from including cool white, grey, pink, yellow and blue. At present there is no word on the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 4c in India, but there have been hints that it might be coming soon.
