Sony Xperia 1 VI Detailed Specs Surfaced Online with New Colors, New Camera App; Expected Launch on May 17
Sony is preparing to launch its latest flagship smartphone the Xperia 1 VI globally, later this month. Before the official release, MSPoweruser disclosed details about its camera and additional features.
Design and Display -
The Xperia 1 VI will sport frosted textured glass on the back and fine slits on the sides to enhance grip. It will come in black and platinum silver variants.
The OLED display boasts 1.5 times more brightness than its predecessor, featuring a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and variable refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, in line with previous leaks, indicating the absence of a 4K display. The display may incorporate BRAVIA HDR remaster technology and Sunlight vision mode for enhanced outdoor visibility and visuals.
Camera -
The smartphone will house a triple rear camera setup: an ultrawide-angle 16mm lens, a wide-angle 24mm lens (with 2X Optical Zoom reaching 48mm), and a telephoto zoom 85-170mm lens (providing up to 7X Zoom). Each camera is anticipated to feature a 48MP Exmor T lens. Sony will introduce a new camera app amalgamating Photography Pro, Videography Pro, and Cinema Pro functionalities.
It will also introduce human pose estimation technology to improve subject focusing and a new Video Creator app for simplified video production.

The Xperia 1 VI is rumored to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, featuring enhanced heat diffusion and a vapor chamber to prevent overheating. It may boast a 5000mAh battery with wireless and reverse wireless charging capabilities and upgraded battery health technology.
The phone will include a new high-performance audio chip, supporting Hi-Res Audio, Hi-Res Audio Wireless, 360 Reality Audio, LDAC, and DSEE Ultimate. It will retain the 3.5mm jack for wired listening and offer gaming features such as a 240Hz touch scanning rate and an FPS optimizer.
In certain regions, purchasers may receive a year of complimentary Sony Pictures movie streaming and access to up to five movie titles remastered with IMAX video and DTS sound optimized for the phone.
