Samsung Confirms Galaxy S22 series will be announced in India with Snapdragon 8 Gen1 SoC

Samsung launched its latest premium flagship smartphones the Galaxy S22, S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra with a built-in S Pen stylus in the Galaxy S22 series this week. The company also started pre-bookings for the phone yesterday and the Pre-reserve in India. Now, the Snapdragon India has confirmed that the Galaxy S22 series will be announced in India with Snapdragon 8 Gen1 SoC instead of Exynos 2200 SoC, after several years in the premium S series smartphones.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen1 processor is much faster than Exynos 2200 SoC, but both are based on the same Samsung’s 4nm EUV process technology, Armv9 architecture and use tri-cluster CPU structure that consists of Arm Cortex-X2 core optimized for peak performance, three Cortex-A710 cores for balanced processing, and four Cortex-A510 cores for efficiency. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has 2.99GHz (Maximum Clock Speed), while the Exynos 2200 uses 2.80GHz (Maximum Clock Speed).

The Qualcomm Adreno GPU provides a 30% more boost in graphics rendering capabilities and a 25% improvement in power savings compared to the previous generation. While the Exynos uses the new Samsung Xclipse 920 GPU with the new high-performance AMD RDNA 2 architecture and has hardware ray tracing technology that simulates real-world light movement, and variable rate shading (VRS) that helps to optimize GPU workloads by applying lower shading rates in areas.

Finally, Samsung is launching the Galaxy S22 series with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor in India and will also be sold in US and UAE, but Europe and UK will get the Exynos 2200 version.
