Samsung Galaxy On5 (2016) and Galaxy On7 (2016) launched with fingerprint sensor

Samsung has launched its updated Galaxy On5 (2016) and Galaxy On7 (2016) smartphones in China. Both feature unibody metal design which is a huge departure from previous generation devices. Moreover, these would be cheapest Samsung smartphones to come with a fingerprint sensor.

Coming to specs the Galaxy On5 (2016) features a 5-inch HD display with 2GB RAM running on the Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor while the Galaxy On7 (2016) gets an upgraded 3GB RAM with 32GB onboard storage running on the Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC built on a 14nm process.

Storage is expandable on both using a hybrid SIM slot option and you get 13MP f/1.9 aperture rear camera on both as well.  There is an 8MP front facing camera on the Galaxy On7 while the new Galaxy On5 makes do with a 5MP camera. Video recording is limited to 1080p for the rear camera at 30FPS. Both run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with Samsung's new refined TouchWiz user interface.

Connectivity options include dual-SIM 4G LTE support, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. The Galaxy On5 (2016) makes do with a 2400 mAh battery while on the Galaxy On7 (2016) a 3300 mAh battery keeps the lights on. If you were wondering why all these specs sound similar, Samsung had launched these same smartphones in India as the Galaxy J5 Prime and Galaxy J7 Prime just a couple of days ago.

The Samsung Galaxy On7 (2016) is already on sale in China priced at 1599 yuan ($240 or Rs. 16000). While at present there is no word on availability of the Galaxy On5 (2016).
